Hello Friday.
April 26 2024
Louisville City FC and Racing Louisville FC are harnessing their community impact with a new philanthropic arm.
Soccer Holdings, LLC, the soccer teams’ parent company, launched the Louisville Soccer Foundation last week to advance the health + wellness of the community through the power of soccer.
In addition to the new foundation of the soccer clubs, there’s a new face in FC’s lineup as well. Christen Boone, former president and CEO of Fund for the Arts, joins the Louisville Soccer Foundation as a strategic consultant.
Christen left the Fund at the end of June and is now president of her own consultancy firm, The Boone Group. Fund for the Arts regularly handles + distributes millions of dollars worth of grants to local and regional artists, so she should be well-matched for her new role with LouCity.
The foundation’s first fundraiser — a 50/50 Raffle hosted by the Louisville Sports Commission — kicked off over Labor Day weekend as LouCity battled FC Tusla and Racing FC took on OL Reign.
Half of the raffle proceeds will go toward supporting children’s soccer programs at Shawnee Park, Wyandotte Park + Petersburg Park, while the other half will go toward a lucky winner announced at the raffle’s end on Oct. 3. Tickets can be purchased digitally for $10 apiece here.
